It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dixie Jeanne (Jeannie) Newgard Cunningham, (GCA class of ‘73), on October 13, 2025. Jeannie met Harold Cunningham at GCA and the two started dating their junior year. The couple would have been married 50 years this December. Following graduation from GCA, Jeannie studied nursing at Southern Missionary College and became an RN.

Jeannie was the beloved mother of their two daughters, Amy and Stacie, and was Harold’s forever love. Jeannie’s sparkling personality made her a much-loved friend and earned her great success in her later career with Avon.

Her tender heart for animals was evident by the many furry friends she welcomed into their home. Jeannie will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
