GCA Church Board has voted to participate again this year in Christmas in July. This multi-denominational program has run for 18 years in Gordon County, benefiting local families who can use a boost before starting the new school year.  Our church has financially supported this program for several years and collected disinfectant wipes and dental supplies in years past.

This year, the organization has requested that GCA Church collect body soap and hand sanitizer as part of the many items that will be distributed to deserving families at the event in July. Please bring your items to the collection box in the church lobby as we strive to reach our goal of 105 of each item! Thank you for helping us be His hands to our community members! As a part of our summer home vespers program this summer, the Peterson family has offered to host our seventh home vespers of the summer season. They ask that you bring your favorite summer dish to share.

They have a pool and are inviting you to bring your swimsuits and towels to swim, as well as snacks to share.

Chattanooga Bike Ride - No Minibus.  We will be meeting at 4:00 pm at Tennessee Riverwalk, Chickamauga Dam, Chattanooga, TN 37406.  No cost unless you need to rent a bike.  Information for bike rental is in the signup link below.  We are not planning a meal for this even so you will want to eat before you come, or bring a snack if you will need one.  The end time is flexible depending on the speed of the group.  Tentatively, the estimate is 7:00 pm.

White water rafting - Outland Expeditions $38 per person if we have at least 11 people going.

Once you have contacted Cindy to let her know you plan to come, she will provide you with the link so parents of children 12-17 and anyone 18+ can sign the waiver. Outland Expeditions has a 12-year-old and up policy, so no one under 12 can attend.

Or bring cash on the day of the event. If someone comes without a parent and has not paid, they will not be able to raft.

There are 5 slots for children 12-17 currently to ride with Cindy without a parent. If there are more than that who sign up, we can take a minibus for children if their parents want to send them without a driver, but there will be an additional charge of $12.00 to cover the expense of the minibus. Please let us know if you plan to go and have room for an additional underage passenger.

Check-in at Outland Expeditions is at 2:00 pm on Sunday, June 14th. The address is 2483 Old Parksville Road; Cleveland, TN 37323, if you plan to go directly. If you wish to travel with Cindy, she will be leaving the GCA Church parking lot at 12:00 pm sharp.

Finally, the group plans to stop at Taco Bell and eat on the way home, so those without parents will need to bring extra money to pay for their meal.

We do not know how long this event will last. The above is a guess. Cindy said to let those parents who plan to send their children without a driver know that they will be called when the group leaves Taco Bell, so they can anticipate their arrival at GCA Church.

Our June Potluck will be on June 13th and will start after church ends. The theme is summer picnic including sandwiches, salads, chips, and desserts. Darlene Peterson will be leading.
